We get asked this question a lot, but it’s a tough one to answer. Every home renovation is different, and costs are based on a wide variety of factors. Though we’re known for being responsive, fair, and up front about pricing, it’s impossible to tell you what a typical renovation costs until we meet with you and get an idea of what you’re looking for.

The time it takes to complete the project depends on what type of project it is. Here’s a general range:

• Entire home renovations – these take the most time, between 7-12 months
• Basements or partial home remodels generally take 5-7 months
• Kitchens and bathrooms will typically take 3-5 months.

Keep in mind that if there are special materials being imported, shipping delays can cause the project to go longer than expected. Most people are way off on the time they think it will take for any type of remodel, and that’s why we’re big on explaining the process.

People are often surprised to find out that bathroom renovations can take more time than basements. This is because bathrooms usually have much more detail and special materials than basements.

We have a Pre-Construction Agreement after the initial contact and estimate approval, and the client provides a small deposit for the project. After that, we work either with one of our partner architects or with an architect the client has selected to finalize plans. Then we submit for permits and provide final construction contracts and documents. Then, those documents are signed, the start date arrives, and there’s a whole process that happens before we begin.

Many people get frustrated when they meet the owner or owners of a home remodel company, and once the construction begins, they rarely ever see them again during the renovation process.

We don’t work that way. We pride ourselves on being involved throughout the entire project. This is extremely rare in our industry, but it’s important to us to provide the highest quality of workmanship, results, and service. From the very beginning, we decided we always wanted to be involved. We didn’t want to do things the standard way, where we wouldn’t see how things were progressing along.

As co-owners, Jeff Wood handles the business side, and Mark Beard takes care of oversight. We’ll be at your house throughout the project. Our leads will do the day-to-day activity, but you’ll interact with one of us regularly in person.

In many remodels, you can stay in your home, but it depends on the scope of the project and which areas we’re working in. If the work is limited to one area of the house, most homeowners stay, and we set up dust protection and work zones to minimize disruption.

If the project involves major structural work, whole-home remodeling, or your kitchen/bathrooms being unusable for a period of time, some clients choose to stay elsewhere temporarily for convenience. Before we start, our team will walk you through the schedule and let you know exactly what to expect so you can decide what works best for your family.

Staying on budget starts with careful planning. We create a detailed scope of work and an accurate estimate before the project begins, including allowances for materials and potential variables. Our team also reviews all selections with the homeowner early, so we can avoid last-minute changes that may increase costs. Throughout the project, we track labor, materials, and subcontractor costs closely. If anything unexpected comes up, our team will communicate it immediately and discuss options before moving forward. No change orders happen without the client’s approval, which keeps the project transparent and under control.
